Michigan reports 3,881 new cases of coronavirus, 29 deaths over the weekend

Michigan has lost 29 more people to the novel coronavirus and 3,881 more people have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Monday update from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, which spans two days of cases and deaths.

The state’s totals are now 7,211 confirmed deaths and 161,907 confirmed cases.

Michigan also reports school-related outbreaks of COVID-19 on Mondays. There were 30 new outbreaks this past week, with 109 total cases. There are 97 ongoing outbreaks with 4782 total patients.

Michigan has a fatality rate of 4.5% among known cases.

The state has a positivity rate of 6.39%, reporting 2,470 out of 38,674 diagnostic test results returned Sunday were positive. Sunday’s rate is the highest the positivity rate since May 29.

The state has reported 341 probable COVID-19 deaths and 17,762 probable cases.

The probable cases combined with the confirmed cases make for a cumulative total of 7,552 deaths and 179,669 cases.
