Between the weeks of March 16 and April 13, consumer nearly doubled their spending on fast food breakfast items ordered through third party delivery services like DoorDash or Uber Eats, according to Edison Trends, reports CNBC. The spending peaked the week of May 11 and has fallen slightly since.
McDonald’s saw the biggest sales spike, followed by Dunkin’ and Starbucks. Despite the boost in sales, many restaurants still struggled to keep day-to-day operations running. Even McDonald’s, one of the biggest players in the fast food breakfast arena, had to pull all-day breakfast from its menus in late March to keep things running smoothly. Full Story
